Page 25: | This passage from A Midsummer Night's Dream is presented as a misuse of the period:But whatever Ms. Truss thinks is the corrected version never appears. |
I believe it should be thus:
|
Page 42: | "However, it is generally accepted that familiar contractions such as bus (omnibus), flu (influenza), phone (telephone), photo (photograph), and cello (violoncello) no longer require apologetic apostrophes." |
I thought this was a simple typographical error. However, the error is mine: I always spelled it "violincello", but Ms. Truss is correct. (I probably should reverse the color scheme for these cases...) |
Page 157: | "The dash is nowadays seen as the enemy of grammar, partly because overly disorganized thought is the mode of most email and (mobile phone) text communication, ..." |
Misplaced left parenthesis: S/B "(and mobile phone)". |
Page 191: | "As the internet is dedicated to proving, you really have no idea who anybody is out there." |
Uncapitalized proper noun: S/B "Internet". This error occurs several times. |
